LORNA: RELIC WRANGLER to be featured in January issue of PREVIEWS!

And you can see a sneak peek right here, just in time for Christmas!

LORNA has been a huge group effort, so I have to give props to everyone who has helped bring her to life.

First of all, none of this would be possible without the good folks at IMAGE COMICS, who will be putting LORNA on the shelves in March, 2011! The feature story is written by Micah S. Harris, author of the  HEAVEN’S WAR graphic novel and THE ELDRITCH NEW ADVENTURES OF BECKY SHARP novel. Loston Wallace (yours truly) provides the pencils and inks on our feature story, with Steve Downer supplying the colors and Nathan Pride providing the lettering. Steve Downer’s color work is fantastic (as you’ll see below), and I want to give him special attention since his name was accidentally left off of Image’s official LORNA online announcement. Steve is an essential part of the LORNA art team, so please go to his site and show him he’s appreciated! http://downerillustration.com/

Oh, and did I mention that comics superstar Darwyn Cooke and the amazing Dean Yeagle are each providing covers for LORNA’S debut issue? Boo-yah!

Shorter stories are provided by Olli Hihnala and Michael Youngblood, with Paul Maybury providing a  pin-up.

So…you know the drill. The January issue of PREVIEWS will be available the last week in December. Order LORNA: RELIC WRANGLER from PREVIEWS and show us all some love and support!

Now I hope you will enjoy this sneak peek from LORNA: RELIC WRANGLER!

Batgirl Beyond

I did this piece for someone on DeviantArt. It features Melanie, AKA “10” from the Batman Beyond Royal Flush Gang, as a futuristic Batgirl. I had fun experimenting with the colors.

Zombie Illustration with Colors by Jacon

My original commission piece is going to be re-purposed. It will be appearing as a pin-up in an upcoming zombie anthology comic. Superb colorist Jacon, familiar to many of the folks on the PencilJack forums, did an amazing job laying down some hues on this Loston classic. Thanks, Jacon!

I loved doing this piece, but now it’s even better! Check out these awesome colors from Steve Downer!

Steve’s done fantastic work for Marvel and DC. If you’re not familiar with him, do yourself a favor and check out his site: http://downerillustration.com/ Tell him Loston sent ya!

Commission: Smallville’s Chloe Sullivan

Recently a gentleman named Wes contacted me about doing a commission for his wife, Nessie, who had just received a promotion at work. Nessie’s birthday was fast approaching, and Wes wanted to surprise her with something special. Both were fans of the CW television series,  SMALLVILLE, so I was asked to draw a cast member from the show–either Clark, Lois or Chloe– holding up a copy of the Daily Planet with a congratulatory headline.  I chose to draw Chloe Sullivan, who is actually my favorite character on the show. I’m pleased to find out that Nessie liked the drawing, and that this birthday present was a smashing success!

Nate Lovett: Colorist Extraordinare!

Nate Lovett is a talented cartoonist who is also a heck of a colorist. Nate was kind enough to grace some of my pencil art with some hues, so I thought I’d post some of those. Check out his color skills on my Buffy, Hellboy and the Phantom drawings! I’m particularly fond of the Phantom colors. The aging effect Nate employed on the coloring really made the drawing feel very classical!

By the way, don’t forget to check out Nate’s site at http://www.natelovett.com/

Minotaur

Cory McNutt received his copy of MYTHOS and his free art a few weeks back.  Being a fan of Greek Myths, I was very happy to obligue Cory when requested that I draw his MINOTAUR hero for him! It sure was fun to illustrate!

Bayani and Planet Girl

Here’s a couple more of the free drawings I did for Kris Fenol, who pre-ordered two copies of my 2009 sketchbook, MYTHOS. The first drawing is of Kris’s character, BAYANI, a martial arts hero with the power to manipulate fire into weapontry!  The second character, PLANET GIRL is a creation of Marcy Fitz-Randolf. Hope you liked the books and drawings, guys!

Nexus

Here’s a drawing I did of Steve Rude and Mike Barron’s NEXUS character. For those of you who live under a rock, NEXUS was first published in the ’80s, and enjoyed a 101 issue run, recently coming to a close with the “SPACE OPERA” storyline.   I enjoyed NEXUS tremendously, and Steve Rude’s incredible artwork has made a lifetime impression on me. Steve’s art is steeped in the traditions of such comic artists as Jack Kirby and Alex Toth, with fantastic figure drawing that is heavily influenced by the likes of llustrator Andrew Loomis.

If you’ve missed out on NEXUS, you’ve missed out on a lot, so seek out some collections. You can also see more of Steve Rude’s artwork on his website: http://www.steverude.com/live/

Solid Snake

Another “MYTHOS” drawing; this one for Jason: “Solid Snake” from the Metal Gear Solid–complete with mullet! Thanks, man!
